I took shots at the Fall Festival at school this evening. It’s always fun watching the kids play games to win candy. The National Honor Society kids organized the event and students from around the school brought in candy. This shot is of a chest full of sweets.

Bumblebees in the Fall

The weather is beginning to feel a little more like fall this weekend after a very warm week. I hope to make it up to Caesar’s Head State Park in the next couple of weeks as the leaves begin to change but this weekend we are staying home. I was looking at the flowers that are still blooming in our front yard and the orange on the legs of the bumblebees caught my attention so I took this shot.

Sometimes getting a shot is just a matter of having the camera available. This morning as we were on our way to church I looked over at the lake we pass by on the way and saw a heron sitting on a concrete drain. I had my camera in the back seat since we were taking photos of new church members following the service. So we turned around a went back to get the shot. Unfortunately he decided to fly off as I was looking down at the menu to change some settings and try another shot. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to catch him in flight another day.

I was looking through old pictures to find some to print out and came across this one taken a couple of years ago in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The light and colors make it one of my favorite shots.
